The IELTS listening test and reading test contains 40 questions. Each correct answer is awarded one mark and scores out of 40 are converted to the IELTS nine-band scale.
How IELTS is scored?
All IELTS scores are between 0 and 9. You can also get .5 scores as well (for example, 6.5 or 7.5). You will get a band score for each skill (listening, reading, writing and speaking) and also an overview band score. The overall band score is the average score of all the skills.
How the overall IELTS score is calculated?
Your overall band score is rounded to the nearest whole or half band. For example: If you achieve 6.5 for Listening, 6.5 for Reading, 5.0 for Writing and 7.0 for Speaking, you will be awarded an Overall Band Score of 6.5. Total score of 25 ÷ 4 = 6.25 which is a band score of 6.5.
Is an IELTS score of 7 GOOD?
This would round down to an whole test average IELTS score of 7. (And by many standards, that’s a pretty good IELTS score!) Improve that score slightly with 7 + 7 + 7.5 + 7.5, and you get 29/4, which equals 7.25, which rounds up to IELTS Band 7.5. You get the idea.
How do you get your IELTS results online?
You can get your IELTS results online 13 days after the test date. Go to the IELTS Results service and enter your Test Date, Date of Birth, Passport/ ID Number, Candidate Number and click on the Find button.
